Traditionally, on the eve of San Juan (Saint John’s Day), the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year, is celebrated on beaches all over the island, especially at the main beach in Santa Ponsa. Locals and tourists gather with candles, food, and drinks to celebrate with friends and family. It is customary to eat ‘Coca de Sant Joan,’ a cake made with candied fruits. At midnight, everyone heads to the water’s edge to make a wish and either paddle or fully immerse themselves in the sea.
